POP-UPs DISPLAYED AND LOGGED ON PC
SENT BY INTERNAL FFSK RADIO MODEM.

PC POP-UPsAlarms and site information is displayed on a central PC, or on your home PC if you have dialled into the network.
INTERNAL DIAL-UP MODEMSWhere these are fitted to the central unit, technicians can dial in from home and access the entire network. Non radio sites can also dial in to register alarm events.
SMART TELEMETRYThese units are intelligent and function in isolation to any PC, the PC is only used for displaying and configuration. All features such as voice alarms and relay mapping are generated directly by the unit. For the most part the PC may be turned off. Over a 100 Pop-ups may be stored by the final BT-62 which bleeps until a PC is turned on.

REMOTE RELAY ALARMSAlarm inputs can be mapped to any relay outputs at any other site on the radio or dial-up telephone network.
DUAL RADIO CHANGE OVERThe BT-62 contains two VF interfaces which may be used to intercept Omnibus circuits, join or disconnect a repeater or create a change over pair.
STORED VOICE ALARMSFaults are spoken over the air using our default digitised stored voice or your own stored voice phrases. Alarms can repeat at a programmable rate and interval.
SPOKEN VOICE DIAGNOSTICSThe input value of analogue 0-5-20v inputs are spoken in natural English in response to DTMF codes. A store and repeat function will also echo 8 seconds of your received transmission. |
BASIC SYSTEMEIGHT 0-5-20v A/D or DIGITAL OPTOs-These inputs are link selectable as either a standard A/D inputs or digital opto inputs. As Analogue inputs they can be set for 0-20v or 0-5v for sensors or made to
accommodate 4-20ma for industrial interfaces.
TWO 10k SECURITY OPTO INPUTSTwo of these inputs can be linked as 10k terminated security style inputs, ie
a short or open triggers alarm. ( option ) RELAY OUTPUT -This can be set by a DTMF code or from your PC via the internal FFSK radio modem or via dial-up modem. NEED MORE INPUTS ?The BT-62 has expansion capacity for six internal I/O cards with a further 6 in an expansion rack. This provides up to 80 inputs or outputs. I/O cards are available as linkable Opto / A/Ds, or fixed or Relays out. EASY INSTALLATIONThe unit is easily interfaced to an existing radio by intercepting the 6 wire VF connections. When an alarm event occurs the unit will break the 6 wire VF connections, apply a PTT, or simulate a MUTE output and transmit stored voice or data. In the idle state and in the event of power failure, the device is always disconnected by way of relaxed internal relays. This automatically reconnects the radio back to its input. CHANGE OVER / SPLITTING NETWORKSince the unit has two VF interfaces it can separate and rejoin a repeater site from a network by cutting the 6 wire connections. Additional VF change over cards allow a duplicated radio link to be created with manual or automatic change over. Change over can be initiated via a BIT-VISION or DTMF command over the radio link or via a dial-up Telecom modem. . MAP INPUTS TO RELAY OUTPUTSAny input may be mapped to any relay output on any site in the radio area, even it's self. Dial up connected sites will ring the appropriate number to set that relay. This is done automatically without any PC interaction. Ie. All the numbers and destination information is held within the BT-62s memory. |
PC ALARM MONITORINGRemote units can contact a PC via the internal FFSK radio modem or via telecom dial-up lines. BIT-VISION will generate POP-UP alarms boxes on your Windows or Win 95 screen, even when you are in another application. The user may also access the remote site to monitor A/D inputs, control relay outputs or alter the A/D trip points. If the PC is off, the final BT unit ( network controller ) will store alarms and bleep. MULTIPLE NETWORKSA PC may access several different networks at once by fitting a BT-62 to the end of each network. These units have an RS485 bus on COM 3 which allows them to be bussed together and automatically route data packets to the right network like a telephone exchange. FFSK RADIO MODEM OR PSTN DIAL UPThe BT-62 communicates to other BT-62 units via an internal 1200/2400bps FFSK modem. As a back up or for non-radio connected site, the BT-62 can be fitted with a dial-up modem. This can dial up the network controller and register a Pop-up alarm in just the same manner as does a radio site unit. Where the network controller BT-62 unit is also fitted with a dial up modem, technicians can dial in from home and obtain a log of events that are queued so far. VOICE ALARMSEach input can generate a voice alarm which can either be the default phrase - " Alarm on input 6 at 11.7 volts " Or you can record your own phrase over the air. " Fred here, the battery's gone flat again " This can be repeated at programmable intervals. A DTMF or BIT-VISION access stops the repetition. Note - voice alarms and voice diagnostics are available only on radio based systems and not via dialup. VOICE DIAGNOSTICSDTMF codes can cause the BT-62 to speak the value of specific inputs in clear English. e.g. 16# speaks - " Card 1 Input 6 is at 12.3 volts " + 8 seconds of your own store and forward audio test. |

Front panel
DB25 RS232 This carries the RS232 (COM 1), for direct connections to a laptop or RS232 line. This is looks like a modem to a PC and has the standard female connector pin out. TX indicator LED This flashes when transmitting anything be it data, voice messages or SELCAL RX indicator LED This flashes when receiving anything be it FFSK data or SELCAL, or during a voice recording. WARN indicator LED This LED responds to an error situation. This usually indicates that a data message failed. IDLE indicator LED This LED winks continually to show that it is active and not in a power down mode Test switch This switch enables a confidence test in the form of some action depending on the programming, usually accompanied by a voice prompt. Hint - Holding this down for 10 seconds will stop the voice prompting for 24 hours. Active switch Multi-function switch. either acts as a disable/enable switch, or is used for the intercom mode. When placed in the stand-by mode no alarm |
Rear panel The rear panel carries a number of connectors. These depend on what selection of option cards have been ordered.
2 pin DIN +12 V DC power is supplied on this connector. DB15 female connector PRI port - This usually connects to the radio base station. DB15 male connector SEC port - This usually connects to the land-line. DB25 female ( opt. ) This carries the RS232 (COM 2), for direct connections to a laptop or RS232 This only carries RX and TX lines and looks like a modem to a PC. Internal DB25 The internal COM3 is usually reserved for connection to an internal PSTN modem.
ID rotary switch This 16 position rotary switch is used to select the BT-62s identities of 0-9-9999. The unit also has a full 20 character name configured with BIT-VISION. ( This is held in non-volatile memory )
